There are two single beds in each room. These can be set up separately or placed together to form a large double bed. The design of the bed bases means that the mattresses fit together snugly. Both upstairs rooms can accomodate a cot or a third person sleeping on the single futon stored in the cottage.
The extra-large velux windows have fitted blinds which block out most of the light and ensure that guests can avoid being woken at dawn in the summer months. If you prefer, you can leave them slightly ajar and drift off to sleep to the sound of the waves on the shore.
Sitting
up in bed you can watch the sun rising on the other side of the bay and the ferry
coming in and out of Port Ellen. You might also see seals bobbing up and down
in the waves or highland cattle grazing on the shore.
The large downstairs bedroom has a king-size bed, an antique pitch-pine triple wardrobe, a dressing table and full-length ash-framed mirror. The spare double futon can be used to accomodate extra guests. The bedroom is off the hallway at the back door entrance, next to the main bathroom. It is easily accessible for wheelchair users.
The main bathroom is located downstairs, off the entrance hall at the back door and next to the master bedroom. It has heated slate flooring, a large oak-panelled bath and shower. A long oak shelf underneath the mirror provides plenty of space for toiletries.
The
view from the bathroom can be unusual! |
